Restart’s second COTM instalment, celebrating our amazing clients and the hard work that they put in to achieve their health and wellness goals. Congratulations to all November nominees!
My client of the month for November is Evelyn. She has been through a lot over the last few months with being diagnosed with cancer and deciding to not undergo further treatment post-surgery. Along with the cancer diagnosis she also suffers with severe knee osteoarthritis and right shoulder pain. Prior to our first session Evelyn didn’t partake in any exercise. I now see Evelyn twice a week and her shoulder range of movement and energy levels have improved significantly. Evelyn is very dedicated to improve her function and to fight her diagnosis with exercise and improved diet.
Despite back pain throwing her a curve ball, Tammy has worked hard with her exercises and stretches to manage her back pain and increase her activity levels overall. One of Tammy’s goals has been to set a good example for her children – something which I believe she has done a brilliant job of! Tammy has been an inspiration to me personally, showing that if you’re determined you can always find time to incorporate exercises into a busy day. As a brilliant mother of two young ones, Tammy doesn’t always have much time for herself. But with plenty of determination and skills at multi-tasking, Tammy has made her exercise sessions at home or in the park into a family affair.
My client of the month is Paul. Paul came in January this year for a free mobility appraisal after joining the gym at Goodlife Carseldine. He had chronic back and hip pain and was overweight. Paul obtained a Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) referral for 5 appointments, and continued to see me for appointments as a private client. Paul took to my programming with gusto always asking questions and looking to improve and he has been a regular in the gym all year. In fact Paul’s self-motivation and routine got to the point where we now have monthly catch ups to keep him on track. Paul recently competed in the swim leg of the Noosa tri and beat his goal time, all the while reducing his hip and back pain significantly. Over the 12 months Paul has lost an incredible 15kg and 20cm from his waist.
As an AEP our job is to make ourselves redundant and tool our clients with the necessary skills and knowledge to maintain their healthy lifestyle habits. Paul has done this and then some! I look forward to providing further guidance as required to assist Paul towards his latest health and lifestyle goals in the new year.
Peter should be recognised for his commitment to improving his health and wellbeing over the past 3 years. He started at Restart in 2015 in our first Heart Health program and has stayed on as a client ever since. Peter suffers from left knee osteoarthritis, associated pain and instability issues, as well as hypertension. Today, Peter can perform 30 minutes on the cross-trainer pain free, he can perform a single leg balance for >45 seconds and his blood pressure scores regularly test as healthy! Peter always attends his weekly exercise appointments with enthusiasm, and acknowledges the benefits of regular personalised exercise. Outside of the gym Peter is always helping build something or working in his shed. His commitment to keeping himself mobile and moving pain free allows him to continue doing the daily activities that he enjoys.
